Karen thanked everyone for attending. We are starting to learn and use a new software program called Golf Genius (https://www.golfgenius.com/). Golf Genius combines the best features of the traditional golf experience with highly innovative cloud-based and mobile technology. Margie used it to post our scores and calculate the winners of the game today.
Regarding posting our scores via the new GHIN software or Golf Genius, Kathy Faber always double checks our scores. If there are any errors, she will send a note to the affected player with an explanation as to why the score was changed (usually wrong addition).
Karen asked, again, if someone would please take over the website maintenance? Kathy Faber stepped up to the plate and volunteered! Thank you, Kathy!
Our annual Maary Smith intra-club tournament will start on March 14th at Highland Falls. The first 32 players to sign up will participate. Karen will be sending out more information soon.

Vice President – Margie Cashwell:
Margie was pleased to welcome a new member, Tiffini Phu!
On January 6, 2020, the new GHIN system came into effect. All members should delete the GHIN app
on their phone and re-install it. Also, a lot of players were questioning the handicaps that were used for the game today. Margie informed us that, with the new GHIN system, your handicap will most likely be lower than it has been, on any given course (usually by one or two strokes). And, as with any new change, the app will probably have some glitches that you may have to contact GHIN’s technical support to resolve.

2020 New World Handicap System – Kathy Faber: GHIN program will be down January 1-5, 2020 performing system update. There will be NO score posting during this time. If you play a round from Jan. 1-5, please keep the scorecard until the system is back up. You will get an alert to update your GHIN App once the system is back online.
There are few major changes impacting how Business Women will need to adopt and conform to the “New World Handicap” system:
***The handicap index will be calculated on daily basis, taking away index updates on the 1st and 15th of the month. Business Women will need to decide when the cutoff date for the handicaps to be used prior to play date. Also it will be necessary for individual players to post their own scores at the end of the round. All scorecards will be collected given to Handicap Chair, Kathy Faber or a Board member if Kathy Faber is not present. Random audits of scorecards will be done to make sure the scores are correctly added and posted in GHIN. If you are not sure and have any questions, please call on Kathy to help you post your scores. We will all be “hands-on” to help you through the process. Please do not stress.
***The “equitable strokes” scale will NO LONGER be in effect for posting your maximum score per hole. The new system for posting your maximum score on a hole is NET PLUS DOUBLE BOGEY. Players will need to know how to calculate course handicap and “pop” scorecards base on the golf course slope/rating and hole handicap. We will teach and guide you through, please see Kathy Faber or any Board member.
More to come and will be updating everyone January 11th at our general meeting after play at Bear’s Best. There are plenty of changes and improvements coming to the GHIN system as part of the new World Handicap Launch in 2020.
Team Play--Christine Soscia & Margie Cashwell “hello everyone” I will be the Team Play Captain with Margie Cashwell, Co-Captain for next year. The 1st match of the season will start on January 27th we’re playing at home course, Bear’s Best. If you would like to play team play, please come see myself or Margie Cashwell. We love to have any and all interested to play on the Business Women team. For those that have last year’s team shirt and will not be using it, please consider giving the shirt to a new player. It will be greatly appreciated as we don’t know if the same shirt can be re-ordered.

OFFICERS REPORTS
President – Karen Huckabay: Thank you everyone for playing today, great job winners of the Game, with that said, today’s general meeting is not following the order of the agenda. Note: meeting officially started at 12:20pm. Reminder the multi-membership rebate form is available on SNGA.org website for those who belong to more than one Club to fill out your rebate forms. Log on to SNGA.org and fill out the Rebate form to receive $20 for every additional Club after the first club you’ve joined within the year. SNGA will mail you a check sometime in October or November.
Vice President - Margie Cashwell: I like to inform the membership the changes coming from GHIN starting January 2020. Posting of your scores from every round of play must be posted on the day of play. Therefore, handicap index will be updated each time scores are posted. It will not be updated on bi-weekly basis anymore. If you checked into golf course and played a round but if you neglect to post your score on the day of play, GHIN will calculate your index by using your lowest score or the last posted score on record.
Business Women being a traveling club will have to look into a system where will need back-up GHIN Admin other than Kathy Faber to post our game day scores. Particularly if Kathy Faber is absent from the round, we will have to have another GHIN Administrator (Board Member) available to post scores from the various golf courses. Clarification from Deb Koch, the reason for your scores posted on the day of play is in the new GHIN system it will take into account the weather condition of the day and factor that into calculation of your handicap index. Example, high winds, rain, extreme heat or severe cold conditions etc. We will have more discussion on this process and the Board members will be meeting on this in the next couple of months.
SilverCup Tournament- Margie Cashwell: This was an amazing experience for all our players. Each round, the matches were played very well against the North team. They were close matches, although the South Team lost the cup back to the North this year, it wasn’t without a good fight with every match going down to wire. Playing SilverCup is a tremendous experience playing good competitive golf with teammates from different golf clubs that you don’t normally play with. I really want to encourage everyone to please come out and try out for the SilverCup team in the Qualifier tournament. You will gain great experience playing with the various levels of good women golfers throughout Las Vegas. There were several Business Women members on the team: Myself, Danielle Kaylor, Theresa Prospero, Theresa Summers, Christine Soscia, Karen Herness & Rusty Beckel (Captains) which makes our Club’s participation pretty significant on the team. This is my 2nd year playing and it is A LOT OF FUN! Please think about playing for the South team and try out for the SilverCup team during the Qualifier tournament around June/July. Next year, 2020 the SilverCup tournament will be played here at PAIUTE Golf Club.

We do not have enough funds this year to pay for the materials needed for centerpieces. The printing cost of the program flyer & hole sponsor signs are donated by Rapid Colors or greatly discounted. For future Jingle Balls tournaments, we will need to discuss raising the entry fees. Board members will meet on this subject and we’ll put to vote by membership. Jingle Balls work day is on Nov. 16th at 11:00am. Location will be either at Christine Soscia or Karen Huckabay’s house. Final determination on which location will be announced by email and/or by next general meeting Nov. 2nd. OLD BUSINESS
Jingle Balls Invitational - Jan Hansen: Jan read a thank you note from Carrie Ostria of The Little Miss Hannah Foundation. “Thank you for your incredible donation and continued support of our organization! Your group has made such a great impact in allowing us to continue to work with these amazing kids.”
2019 Calendar: Karen stated that the calendar is almost complete. Jan has a few more dates to fill in in September and October. Karen noted that she has had a great response from members who have volunteered to be play day chairs and thanked those members for stepping up to help.
Team Play: Theresa Prospero stated we have 17 members who are on the team for this year. Shirts have been ordered and should be here before our first match on February 4 at TPC Summerlin.
NEW BUSINESS
Survey: Margie Cashwell reviewed the results of the Away Trip survey that was sent out to all members. She noted there were 60 responses to the survey and gave a summary of the results. A majority of the members are still in favor of having two trips, are willing to travel up to 300 miles, are willing to pay up to $400, and job/family and time of year prevented participation. Margie also stated the comments were great and very helpful. She will be sending out a complete summary of the survey to all members in the near future.
Rules Chair: President Huckabay stated that she would like to renew our commitment to having a Rules Chair review rules at each General Meeting. Janis Lunde and Deb Koch have agreed to be our Rules Chairs. Janis reminded everyone that the process of dropping a ball is different under the new rules. Take a look at the picture in the pamphlet handed out by Sue May at the seminar and in the new Rules Book. Also, there are great videos at usga.org. Janis also cleared up a rumor that had been circulating in some groups that no one is allowed to stand on the teeing area when is a player is ready to hit. This is NOT true. A playing partner may not stand behind a player on the tee, on the green or along the line of play on the green.
January Birthdays: Barb Ford (1); Teruko Szczepanski (1); Robin Sharp (5); Patty Speer (7); Tina Lipschutz (18); Janis Lunde (18); Michelle Schwartz (19); Ashley Vaughn (27).
